Hi Greg, thanks for the response ![Smile :)]()
I definitely do want the sends to be exported, but only in their own tracks, not baked into all the sources as well.
As a demonstration, I made a very simple project -- A single audio track, I made some noise at two distinct moments; and a send track with a panning delay effect.
If I mix down to stems, applying effects but clearing any automation etc (basically getting "unmixed but processed" stems I suppose), I get two audio files. The one for the "Delay" send track is as expected, but the one for the "Snap" audio track also has that delay baked into it.
If I mix down and only select the "Snap" track, it also still has the delay baked in.
If I mute the "Delay" track, it still shows up (probably because I'm saying to ignore any track volume adjustments)
Only if I actually clear the "Snap" track's send (or silence the "Delay" track with a plugin, or completely delete it) do I get back a clean export (except of course the Delay track comes out silent, so I need to do it in multiple rounds):
My main goal with this right now is archival. When I finish with a song, I want to back it up in as many forms as I can: dump the project to a zip file so I can come back to it; dump the processed stems so I can come back and re-balance things even if I don't have access to Mixcraft for some reason; dump the unprocessed (but edited) tracks so I can redo full effect chains. But with my sends getting baked into all the source stems, I'm not sure I'm actually achieving that, I've caught it a couple times, but others have probably slipped through.
Hope this makes sense![Smile :)]()
