I can concur with this. I made the mistake of assuming that Mixcraft automatically embedded the external loops and sample files used in my projects....until I changed PCs and got greeted with loads of 'Missing sample files' messages and numerous blank tracks. Now I also create a separate folder within the Project folder, copy all my working files into it and load into Mixcraft from there. Any unused audio files are deleted when the project is completed. At least I'm now confident that everything is stored and moved around in it's entirety. The Document folder will be on your C drive. So most people will always change that to a Data drive if you have that option.
The first thing that I do after installing any software is go into preferences and change the default folder location to a Data drive.
So my Data drive has individual folders for each Software I use. Mixcraft has its own folder and all projects are stored there. In that folder is also 3 other folders.
Audio, Midi and Exports.
If I have audio files from somewhere else I copy them to the Audio folder First before I drag them into the Daw.
Same with midi files. Either that or directly to the project folder if it’s started already.
Having scattered files is certainly a dangerous thing for that project in the future.
