Mixcraft • Weird recording snafu

I've been using Mixcraft for years and a new problem has confronted me. I'm 11 tracks into this song and suddenly when I hit the record button I hear a split second of the tracks and then the cursor stops forward motion - it's very much like someone is over my shoulder hitting stop and saying "no no". Nothing moves or gets recorded - it's like a safety of some sort got switched on. It won't record on any of the tracks. When I try a new project - no problem, recording just as swell as ever. Did I accidently activate some sort of stop or safety button preventing me to record on this particular project? I really need help on this one, artists. thanks.
