Hi...I have a similar type of question/problem that I would appreciate your help. I contacted NI about this via a support ticket and their advice was no good and generic.
Just as of today, when I went to download Gentle Winds (a free download from fracture sounds) it said a download error has occurred and it is unknown. I included a few screenshots. I also tried to reinstall an already installed electric keys, and it failed-saying the same thing. (Note that I have windows and not a mac)
The only logical reason that I can think that this is happening is because last week, I attempted to remove a few kontakt libraries(which were also native access instruments) following an online video in order to free up space on my drive. And I sense this is the issue.

How I deleted these instruments last week is by following this video step by step which basically the guy went into the registry editor to delete such instruments. I deleted the feathered flute and Olafur Arnalds composer tool kit. The steps that he did to delete the instruments were: How To Remove Kontakt Library From Kontakt (Windows)
01 Check library you want to remove from "C:-Program Files-Common Files-Native Instruments-Service Center "
02 Go Start menu and Open Windows "Registry Editor"
03 Follow this steps "HKEY_CURRENT_USER-Software-Native Instruments" and Delete the library you want..
04 Remove Whatever Leftover Here "HKEY_CURRENT_USER-Software-Native Instruments-Kontakt Application" and Delete the library you want
05 Next Delete library from 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SOFTWARE-Native Instruments'
Here is the video that I followed step by step for better understanding : How to remove Kontakt library | Delete Kontakt Libraries

I followed these step by step and it removed the kontakt libraries but I am just guessing that this is related to the issue with native instruments being installed...at least that's what I think but I cannot figure out what to do as there are really no tutorials to show what could have happened.
Any advice that you can give to help me would be greatly appreciated. I use native instruments regularly and this will be a problem if I cannot fix this unknown error to install on native instruments
Please note I have already checked out your fix this problem page (failed to download...unknown error as I have an unsupported operating system(older version) and deleted any aria2 files or iso files and that did not help.
I know that I did something in the registry (exactly what was done in the above yt video) and now instruments are not downloading in NI and no new instruments are showing up in Kontakt via the 86-Steinberg folder after I drag them in...they are not there.
Can someone give me an idea of what to do in the reigstry to fix this considering I did step by step in that youtube video
Thank you so much for your help
