Mixcraft • Simultaneous Amp and Raw recording

Hi Everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion on how best to simultaneously record a raw guitar feed along with going through an amp w/ effects. I'm thinking of getting a guitar cord Y-splitter, and have one go to the amp (Peavy Vypr) and the other through my audio interface (Scarlett 2i2). The Vypr has a USB out that will go directly to a second USB on my laptop, while the raw feed will go through the 2i2. But will Mixcraft 10 record both sources to individual tracks at the same time? And the 2i2 records with an ASIO driver, while the Vypr likely uses a different ASIO driver, so I'm not sure that can work in Mixcraft. Will splitting the guitar cable degrade the sound quality of the instrument? I guess I could mic the amp and go through the 2i2 with that as well, but then the mic will influence the outcome.
Basically I have a number of tones programmed in the Vypr that I like and think will record well, but I also know that once that's done there's no fixing or tweaking the amped feed later so I'd like to have the raw source record as well. And perhaps I might want to do some blending of the amped and raw feeds later while mixing.
Any guidance on how best to record both the raw and amped feeds at the same time?
Cheers,
Dave
