I still think that NIs Guitar Rig sounds better. There are simply much better presets available I think. But you can probably achieve all of this with Guitarix more or less if you tinker long enough.
Hey Patrick (and any of you other guitar pros out there), do you have any favorite or recommended presets in Guitar Rig that'd be good for this kind of 80s style? :)
Now that I loaded Kontakt 5 again on my new machine, I have Guitar Rig "Elements" 5, and it had some nice presets for acoustic/clean guitars (and I noticed a lot of the Guitar Rig 7 Player presets had the same names, so suspect there's overlap there) but I haven't delved into it enough to find good ones for that clean but "lead" 80s sounds yet.
Your own music sounds really good, so I am sure Guitar Rig objectively works well for this, but most of the "lead" presets I personally tried when I was messing with GR7 mangled the signal of RealStrat and RealLPC too much, and I had more trouble tweaking it by twiddling the knobs than I did with Guitarix...

I don't need an amp sim for Orange Tree, because they somehow made all their presets sound mind-bendingly good straight out of the box, so I only need to add reverb/delay.
I like Music Labs VSTs even better in a lot of ways, but while I do think Guitarix is respectably good, I haven't been able to make it sound as good as Orange Tree Evo Infinity yet...
