Sorry for the delay, I didn't have time to test. I checked it again in takes mode and it works incorrectly under certain conditions as I sayed....and of course double-check that you're not in overdub mode. I can't get it to happen, either.
If the previous clip starts earlier and ends later than the recording clip, then it won't work properly. Then what I described happens. The old clip will be muted during recording and then reactivated. I attached some screenshots with the result after recording.

Since I'm using the takes mode here, I'd say that's wrong. But as I said, it works properly during recording. Only after recording the old clip is reactivated. If I want this result, then I would choose overdub
